Made by urushi Master, Michifumi Kawaguchi this discontinued Yukari Royale sized pen is a showcase for the varied styles of Japanese lacquerwork. The Fall Flowers design incorporates two different Maki-e techniques, Togadashi-maki-e (burnished Maki-e) and Taka-maki-e (raised Maki-e). The autumn flowers are made in taka maki-e and raden to highlight the romance and nostagia of autumn. Togadashi maki-e enhances the high relief Japanese knotweeds and blue raden abalone shells to glimmer in the shadows of the knotweeds and hydrageas. The background of the Namiki Yukari Royal Fall Flowers fountain pen is also decorated with jim maki-e gold powder to give a strong contrast to the flowers.
This is a full sized (5 7/8″ capped) pen, with a superior cartridge – converter filling system. It is fitted with a size 20 18kt gold Medium (M) nib imprinted with Mt. Fuji emblem and presented in a paulounia wooden box with outer box, sealed ink bottle (blue), Namiki use and care guide, Pilot Namiki product registration Card, booklet, Certificate of Authenticity and artisan autographed paper (Michifumi Kawaguchi).
