The Emperor Collection is Namiki’s highest ranking series. The dragonfly, known as seirei or kachimushi (insect of victory) was noted for flying forward and never retreating and thus associated with the heroic samurai spirit. Raden inlay with iridiscent mother-of-pearl shell evoke the movement of the shu-urushi (red lacquer) dragonflies. An outstanding pen of impressive size and appearance, beautifully decorated by the Maki-e master Yasanuri Sakumoto using the Togidashi-maki-e and Raden techniques on a smooth black lacquer. This pen employs an eyedropper filling system. A traditional oriental wood gift box with outer box, paper and pipette completes the stunning presentation. Uncommon Namiki pen from late 90s.
