The Thomas Jefferson Edition, the third in the collection, has an octagonal, 750 solid gold body and cap with petrified wooden inlays. This is a homage to Jefferson’s commitment to the environment and to his Monticello estate, a center of agriculture and industry, and home not only to the Jefferson family, but to workers, black and white, enslaved and free.
The clip, a masterpiece of detail, is engraved with Thomas Jefferson’s portrait. It has a faceted mandarin garnet to honor his unparalleled energy and joie de vivre in shaping the American Constitution.
America’s Signatures for Freedom is engraved on the handcrafted 18 kt. gold nib and complemented with 13 stars to commemorate the States that adopted the Declaration of Independence in the Second Continental Congress on July 4, 1776 and signed it a month later.
The Limited Edition, crowned by the Montblanc star in mother-of-pearl, is embellished with Thomas lefferson’s signature and with his dates of Office.
Excellent condition, not inked. Comes in large glass presentation box with leatherbound book (traces of use on the cover) and all original packaging and papers (Certificate & International reply card). Booklet duly signed and stamped: “Montblanc Simplo GmbH / Hellgrundweg 100 / D22525 Hamburg.” Limitation numbers on pen, booklet & outer box label all match. Set includes a leatherbound volume: Thomas Jefferson illuminated. A selection of documents. Wendell Garrett, Thronwillow Press. 2008 The text was set in Caslon and printed letterpress. Fifty copies are bound especially for Montblanc in full leather & set with an authentic piece of wood from Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s bome in Charlottesville, Virginia.
